Active Communities/Forums?

I’ve been a fan of Sleater-Kinney for a few years (unfortunately, not before they broke up), but I've only recently reached the level of superfan craziness. I’ve been listening to everything I can get my hands on, watching Youtube videos, and searching for articles, concert reviews, and pictures. But it’s a little hard when your favorite band has gone on “indefinite hiatus” and a number of the accompanying websites are no longer working. And that's perhaps the most painful part. There don't seem to be any active online communities for S-K where I can share my love for these amazing women!

I’ve been spoiled when it comes to online music fandom. The other band that I love to obsessive levels is Fleetwood Mac. No judging! The boards I frequent for the Mac are very lively communities, with interesting discussions going on every day and a lot of bootleg sharing. Now, I realize that Fleetwood Mac has been around for much longer and has a much larger fanbase than a little indie band that could. Still, their most recent album came out a few years before S-K’s last album, yet they still have a very busy fan community.

Mostly, I just want to know where in the world I can go to interact with other Sleater-Kinney fans. I want to find a place where I can discuss my adoration of Corin, Carrie, and Janet with like minded people, where I can find out new things about these women and their songs, and acquire bootlegged music and videos of concerts, and all the other sorts of things that you want to do for your favorite band. I can’t find any active forums, and it breaks my heart!

I know, and I plan on giving it a listen, though I don't know how I feel about the couple of songs I've heard so far. I also know that Wild Flag is supposed to be coming out with an album in 2011. I saw some Youtube footage of their live performances and enjoyed those a lot. Unfortunately, that doesn't really help me with S-K communities!

the forums at sleater-kinney.net were very active back in the day, as was the words + guitar group/mailing list on yahoo.

And I would be happy if I could even just browse the old forums and not post anything, but all that pops up is "Account Suspended." Which sucks for me. Is there nothing active these days?

i've been having the same troubles! i've been a fan for many years, saw them many times live, was very active in all the online forums, and was so sad the day they broke up. literally, the day after they announced the "hiatus" the yahoo group, s-k.net, and the lj communities all died. it was so so so so SO SAD! i miss it all so much.

i just discovered that you can find a lot of things on tumblr, including the fun blog http://fuckyeahsleaterkinney.tumblr.com.

you can also email me if you want fun stuff. you should send me your email and i can send you a list of all the random bootlegs, b sides, and vinyl rips i have on my computer. i have like 2000 sk files or something crazy.

if youre into it, my email is therunnersfour @ gmail.com

I will gladly take you up on that offer! I've been to the Tumbler site, but even that's only so active. You'd think with all of the members doing interesting, publicly visible things, the fanbase might perk up a little. All well.
